Operation: How to replace tailgate pistons on Mercedes Vito

Raise the rear hood and hold it up with a hydraulic jack. Unhook the snap ring that connects the gas support strut to the car body with a flat screwdriver. Do this on both pistons. Now remove them and install the new gas props. Snap the snap ring that connects the new bonnet gas springs, then snap the ring that connects them to the body (again with a flat screwdriver). Remove the jack slowly to avoid problems if you have incorrectly fitted the new pistons. Have the tailgate up and down more than a few times to make sure everything is properly installed.
