Let's see how the turbo volumetric system works on the TSI versions. In order to ensure excellent performance on a 1.4 Volkswagen, it has been equipped with a generous turbocharger. However, today's cars need to be small and agile, so it has also been equipped with a supercharger with a belt drive that, starting from 2500 RPM, provides torque and immediately pumps pressurized air, consequently increasing the exhaust pressure. This causes the turbocharger to start pumping immediately, making it feel like a 1.8-liter engine. The supercharger disengages and the turbocharger continues on its own. So, at low RPM, the supercharger works, and once a certain RPM is reached, the supercharger disengages and the turbocharger kicks in, giving you a 1.4-liter engine with exceptional performance.
