In this video we can see how to remove the automatic gear knob on a Volkswagen Jetta MK4: first of all, we put the gear lever in neutral position. We will need not so much a screwdriver, which could scratch the lever, but a blunt tool, like the one we see in the video; we insert it between the knob and the chromed part of the gear, separating the two parts. Then we make movements to the right and to the left from the knob button in order to loosen the piece. However, we pay attention not to pull it too much because there is a spring inside that could jump out. When the button is completely out, we can pull up the knob: make sure that the gear actuator rod is in good condition. If nothing is broken, we can put the new knob in its place.
