Instructions for Replacing the Water Pump

Model: Citroen C8 MK 1 - Years 2002-2014

The water pump is driven by the timing belt, so its replacement requires the removal of the belt itself: align the timing marks before removing the belt; only after this operation can you proceed to remove the water pump by unscrewing the fixing bolts around the aluminium plate (it is advisable to drain the coolant first through the radiator cap or by disconnecting a hose rather than letting it drain from the pump housing).
Once the pump is removed, also take off the idler pulleys and the timing belt tensioner, as it is certainly advisable to replace all these components as well as the timing belt itself. Clean the pump seating thoroughly before installing the new one with the corresponding gasket (you can use grease to hold it in place).
