Failure of the tappet cover gasket is a fairly recurring defect on many engines which causes oil to leak with a consequent bad smell which can also be felt in the passenger compartment; the replacement of the gasket is quite simple to carry out: once the engine has cooled down, it will start by removing the engine air filter box and then unscrewing all the fastening pins along the edge of the cover; carefully clean the surface both on the head side and on the cover side, apply the new gasket and putty and then proceed backwards for reassembly.
