- Years 2007-2014 To replace the button cell battery located inside the remote control of your Mini Cooper, just follow the instructions in our new guide. First of all, you have to pull the upper part of the cover outwards so as to be able to completely remove the physical emergency key. Then disassemble the upper part of the cover and remove the protective cap located immediately below. At this point all that remains is to replace the old exhausted battery with the new one. Finally, reassemble the various components previously removed and you have successfully completed the procedure.
