The half shaft is a component that is part of the transmission, which is the set of mechanisms that allow the energy developed by the engine to be transmitted to the wheels. Front-wheel drive cars, in order to allow the driving wheels to also steer, are equipped with homokinetic joints that are protected by rubber boots. To replace the half shaft, it is advisable to lift the car (preferably on a lift) and remove the front wheel; remove the head of the suspension control arm (use a fork extractor or a lever rather than a hammer), also disconnect the stabilizer bar from the control arm and the fixing nut of the half shaft to the hub in order to be able to extract it first from the wheel side and then from the gearbox side (oil may leak out). Then insert the new half shaft, this time first from the gearbox side and then from the wheel side, then tighten the fixing nut to the hub by making a safety indentation with a chisel to prevent it from accidentally coming loose, and reassemble the suspension control arm head and the stabilizer bar. Check the gearbox oil level.

În acest tutorial putem vedea cum să înlocuim bateria telecomenzii Volvo XC40, o operațiune extrem de simplă și rapidă. Pentru a face acest lucru, avem nevoie de o baterie de rezervă de tip CR2032 și, eventual, un mic șurubelniță cu vârful plat.
