The procedure indicated here is valid for all fire engines, that is, those mounted on the Lancia Ypsilon, Punto, and Seicento. Remove the coolant: remove the radiator cap and on the opposite side, open the bleed valve. Then remove the lower radiator hose, taking care to place a container on the floor to collect the liquid that will come out (at least 2 liters) and being careful not to touch the liquid itself because it is corrosive and toxic. Remove the air filter by disconnecting the intake tube, releasing the front spring that holds the cover in place, unscrewing the two screws at the top left and bottom right on the filter box. Disconnect the mass air sensor connector. At this point, the filter box can be removed. Disconnect the battery starting from the negative pole, remove the battery fixing bracket with a 10mm wrench and then remove the battery. To completely remove the battery compartment, use a 13mm socket wrench and unscrew the three bolts at the bottom. Disconnect all the cables that are attached to the battery compartment. Remove the hose that leads directly to the thermostat valve. The latter is locked by two 10mm bolts that need to be removed. At this point, the thermostat can be removed. Before reinstalling the new thermostat, it is recommended to clean the installation area well and then follow the reverse procedure to reassemble all the components. Finally, fill the radiator with new coolant and bleed it using the appropriate screw to avoid the formation of air bubbles.
