The cabin air filter or pollen filter is a filter that determines the quality of the air that is introduced into the cabin through the air vents and needs to be replaced approximately once a year. On the Jeep Renegade, the cabin filter is located on the passenger side and to replace it, the first step is to remove the glove box, which is fixed to the dashboard with seven screws that need to be removed. The first three screws are located just below the glove box and you simply need to lift a section of carpet to unscrew them. Once the first three screws are removed, you will find three more screws positioned along the upper edge inside the glove box, these also need to be removed and then you can access the last screw. To unscrew the last screw, you will need to remove the plastic cap on the right side of the glove box, which is usually not accessible with the door closed. This cap is fixed with four interlocking clips and you just need to apply some leverage to remove it. After removing it, you will have access to the last screw, which can be unscrewed, and you just need to gently force the glove box outward to detach it from the dashboard. Once the glove box is detached, you will need to disconnect the power plug of the light to completely remove it from the car, and this operation will give you access to the compartment that houses the cabin filter. This compartment can be recognized by the presence of a honeycomb-patterned cover fixed with a screw. By removing the screw, the cover will easily come off and you will finally have access to the filter, which can be pulled out and replaced with a new one. Once the new filter is inserted, you can complete the job by closing the cover and reassembling the glove box in the reverse order of disassembly, making sure not to forget to reconnect the power plug of the light.
