Before describing the painting process, some useful tips are suggested for the preparation phase. Carefully straighten any dents and, if necessary, fill them with putty. Delimit the area to be painted by marking it with sharp edges so as not to have to create shading. Sand this area and, if you want to give the painting cycle maximum durability, always apply a coat of primer. Once the primer has dried, sand and clean the area to be painted carefully. Once the area to be repainted has been delimited, the rest of the vehicle must be protected with paper or a cloth. If you do not have a paint booth or suction table, it is suggested to wet the floor to prevent dust from rising.

At this point, you can move on to painting: if it is a metallic paint, the opaque base must be applied first and then the transparent one. Prepare the opaque base by respecting the catalysis ratio, adjust the airbrush (flow and capacity) appropriately and set the pressure to about 2.5 bar; perform some test sprays on paper before painting. Then proceed with the painting operation, starting from the edges and then arriving at the surface, making a regular movement from left to right without ever interrupting the paint flow. More coats will surely be necessary: wait for a minimum of drying time between each coat until a uniform coverage is obtained.

To apply the transparent paint, repeat the same sequence as the painting process after thoroughly cleaning the airbrush (or using another one if necessary). Wait for complete drying before removing the paper or lifting dust by performing other work.
