The guide shows how to replace the chain of the MV Agusta Brutale 675. The replacement kit includes the chain, the sprocket on the wheel, and the sprocket on the engine. To understand when to replace the kit, two tests can be performed: the first involves checking the play of the chain links on the sprocket, if it is excessive, it must be replaced; the second test involves checking the chain tension in relation to the rotation of the sprocket, if it is highly variable, the kit must be changed. For this operation, some special tools are required. After placing the motorcycle on the stand, engage the gear and disconnect the gear connector. Using an 8mm wrench, disconnect the gear lever. Using a Torx 30, remove the sprocket cover and rotate the wheel so that the safety washer can be straightened. Using a torque wrench set to 140 Nm, loosen the sprocket bolt and finish unscrewing it with a ratchet wrench. Unscrew the nuts of the sprocket. Using a chain breaker, identify the master link and proceed with the removal of the chain and sprocket; remove the sprocket. Check the correct size of the replacement kit. Clean the affected area. Reassemble the sprocket and tighten the nuts; grease the side of the sprocket that will come into contact with the oil seal; loosen the two bolts of the swingarm and, using the chain tension key, bring the hub to the end of its travel. In newer models, there is a screw on the caliper support bracket to be loosened in order to adjust the chain. Place the chain on the upper part of the sprocket and bring it into position by sliding it. Rejoin the chain with the appropriate tool. Using the tension key, adjust the chain to the correct tension and tighten the two bolts on the swingarm. Engage the gear and, after greasing it, insert the new safety washer on the sprocket; after applying threadlocker, install the sprocket nut and tighten it. Bend the safety washer and reassemble the sprocket cover with threadlocker on the screws. Reassemble the gear lever and reconnect the gear connector. Tighten the nuts of the sprocket. Pay attention to the tightening torque of the bolts; it is indicated in the manual.
