The caliper will have a slot on the outer side, into which a lever or a large screwdriver can be inserted to separate the pads from the disc, allowing the pistons to retract into their housing. Once this is done, a horizontal movement of the outer side of the caliper will be noticed, and the two bolts on the rear side of the caliper can be unscrewed.

This operation will allow the caliper to open in two parts, providing access to the pads, which will be held in place by two metal springs on both ends. At this point, the old pads can be removed and the new ones can be inserted.

To avoid annoying squeaks, it is recommended to apply copper grease to the contact points between the caliper and the pad, being careful not to get any on the friction material. Before reassembling everything, it is also advisable to thoroughly clean the caliper and all the contact surfaces, and after completing the work on both sides of the car, the cap of the brake fluid reservoir should be put back on and the pedal should be pumped to restore pressure to the system.
