Demontarea barei spate de pe Smart Fortwo (451)

The rear bumper on the Smart Fortwo 451 is a component that covers a large surface at the back of the car, including the rear lights, fuel cap, and rear fenders. First, on the inside of the rear wheel arch towards the door, you will notice a screw that secures the side panel to the car. This screw needs to be removed in order to partially detach the panel and access the two screws that secure the lower part of the bumper to the car. After removing the screws from both sides, you can proceed to unscrew the two easily visible screws on the lower part of the bumper and a third screw located in the center under the tailgate.

Once these screws are removed, you can lower the rear tailgate, which will give you access to two screws on the inside of the rear lights that need to be removed on both sides. Once these last four screws are removed, you can proceed to disconnect the power connectors of the rear lights, which can be accessed through the plastic doors on the side inside the trunk.

After disconnecting the connectors, you will need to remove the fuel cap and then start detaching the bumper from the lower part of the wheel arch. It will be secured along its entire perimeter with plastic hooks that can be released by applying some pressure with your hands.

When you reach the fuel cap area, there will be a power connector that controls the cap door, which can be easily disconnected by reaching inside the wheel arch as it is being released. Now the bumper will be free from any obstacles and you can proceed to detach it completely from the car. Since it is quite bulky, it is also recommended to perform this operation with the help of another person.
