The guide shows how to replace the timing belt of the Volvo V70 produced between 2001 and 2005. Using a Torx30 key, unscrew the two fixing screws of the plastic engine cover and, after lifting the two plastic tabs, remove the protection. Cut the retaining strap of the hydraulic steering tube and remove the system tank from its position. At this point, it is possible to loosen the belt tensioner with a 14mm wrench and remove the old worn-out piece. Using a 10mm wrench, remove the two bolts on the side of the engine that hold the protection of the second belt in place. Lift the car and remove the right front wheel and open the wheel arch panel. Using a 10mm wrench, remove the two bolts on the right side of the pulley and slide off the released strap. Lower the car and align the marks on the pulleys with the plastic protection removed first. Using a 10mm wrench, remove the second tensioner; with a 6mm wrench, loosen the tensioner and remove the belt. Finish unscrewing the tensioner bolt and remove it. Remove the pulley located to the right of the just removed tensioner. At this point, it is possible to reassemble the new parts, making sure to position them correctly. Insert the new belt from below and insert a screwdriver behind the lower pulley to hold the belt in place. Check that the marks are still aligned and tighten the belt tensioner; with the 6mm wrench, return the selector to the starting position and with the 10mm wrench, apply tension to the belt. Perform a complete rotation and recheck the marks on the pulleys. Reposition the strap on the lower pulley and close the wheel arch; remount the wheel and lower the car. Remount the plastic cover on the just replaced belt. Remount the second belt and tension it. Remount the power steering tank in position and remount the cover above the engine. Start the engine to check the correct functioning of the replacement.
