Are the glow plugs of the Smart Fortwo damaged? Let's see how to remove them from inside the engine compartment. We open and lift the rear hatch (where the engine compartment is located). We remove the Smart engine cover panel and other covers if present. We reach the coils located above the glow plugs. We remove the coil cover (as shown in the video). We grab the coil with our hands and twist it until it comes out of the cylinder head. We unscrew the glow plugs with a socket wrench and see which ones are damaged. We take the new glow plug and insert it into the cylinder head with the socket wrench. We replace all the damaged glow plugs.
