How to Locate and Replace the Reverse Light Switch on a Ford Fusion
The Ford Fusion reverse light switch is located on the side of the transmission where the shifter linkage attaches. It can be found under the plastic cover on the gearbox, to the left of where the cables fit. The switch is integrated into the transmission range sensor on the top of the transmission on the driver's side. When the car is shifted into reverse gear, the switch illuminates a white light at the rear of the vehicle to provide visibility to the driver. Replacing the switch involves accessing it from under the front passenger side of the car or through the air filter box on top of the shifter assembly.
