The diesel filter on the Audi A6 is located under the coolant tank, so to access it, you will need to remove the tank by unscrewing the visible screw on the bracket that supports it, and the upper plastic cover of the engine, which you can simply pull to detach it from its seat. Once these two elements are removed, you will have easy access to the diesel filter, which will be characterized by four tubes. The first two, placed individually on the left side, can be disconnected only after loosening the metal clamps with pliers. The other two, on the other hand, will be fixed to a plastic fitting attached to the filter with a metal clip, so you just need to pull it to remove the entire fitting. After disconnecting the two tubes and the fitting, you will notice the presence of two O-rings located in the lower part of the fitting, which should be removed with a flathead screwdriver and replaced with the new ones provided with the new filter. Once this is done, you can loosen the pin that secures the filter on the side, this operation will loosen the strap that supports it. At this point, the old filter can be removed and replaced with the new one, taking care to reassemble everything in the reverse order of disassembly. During the first start, the car may have difficulty starting, this is because the new filter will need to fill up with fuel again, so just persist a bit to start it for the first time.
