If your Polo's EPC light is on and the engine idles up and down without touching the throttle, the problem could be the drive-by-wire throttle. This type of system is nothing more than a type of electronic accelerator ie without cable. You could try to find the throttle connector (black with 6 wires) located on the right side of the engine block, unplug it and spray it with some WD40. This in fact, in addition to being an excellent lubricant, protects and cleans all electrical circuits. Once the connector is sprayed on both sides, let the WD40 act, then clean the parts and reattach everything. You will see that the problem will be solved.
