To use the emergency boot release procedure on your Volkswagen Golf VI you will need to use the internal safety handle. The handle is placed behind a plastic cover located in the center of the lock. Once the plastic cover has been removed, you will see a lever which, once activated with the key, will allow you to open the tailgate from the inside.
