Let's see how to change the battery on a Harley-Davidson Pan-America 1250: the battery is located under the radiator, protected by the lower engine guard (a plastic and metal cover that shields the front and central part of the bike). The battery is a YTX20HL-BS, which you can find on eBay, from Bosch, for £75.23 with free delivery (code 267069690717). Remove the guard secured with 6 bolts; underneath, you will find a cover in front of the battery, secured with two 10 mm bolts. Once unscrewed, this will allow you to remove the support. On the left side of the battery, there is a clip that you need to unclip, then disconnect the negative terminal, followed by the positive terminal, and then extract the battery from the right side of the bike (not upwards). To install the new battery, insert it from the right side, secure the clip, and reconnect the terminals (positive first, then negative). Refit the front battery support by tightening the two bolts, reattach the lower guard, and check that everything is connected correctly.
