Here’s how to store your motorcycle battery in winter: if the standstill exceeds 3 to 4 weeks, with the engine off, first disconnect the negative terminal, then the positive, and remove the battery from its location. Clean the battery terminals and connectors with a wire brush to remove any corrosion. Check for leaks, bulges, or cracks in the casing. Store the battery in a cool, dry place, not in damp basements or garages prone to frost (the ideal temperature is between 10 and 15°C). Never place it on the ground, especially on cold and damp concrete, but on a wooden or plastic shelf. Even when removed from the motorcycle, the battery discharges: the best option is to connect a smart maintainer to keep it charged without overloading, and leave it connected throughout winter. Alternatively, once a month, recharge it with a standard battery charger. Before reinstalling, check the charge with a tester and then connect the positive terminal first, followed by the negative.
