How to Replace the Hydraulic Cylinder of the Convertible Top on a Mercedes SL?

To replace the hydraulic cylinder of the convertible top on a Mercedes SL, tilt the front seat backs forward and remove the carpet located in the rear of the vehicle. Once the carpet is removed, you can locate the cylinder within its housing: to remove it, loosen the bolts found at the top and bottom of the cylinder. After disconnecting the power cables, you can extract it from its seat and replace it with a new one.
