Changing the Gear Knob on a Peugeot 307

As with all maintenance operations on a car, when replacing the gear knob on a Peugeot 307, it is best to secure the vehicle in a stable and safe manner, for example, on a flat surface or on a ramp. This precaution is taken to ensure the safety of the operator. At this point, unlock the leather cover of the gear lever base using your fingers. Once done, grasp the knob, rotate it counter-clockwise, and pull upwards until it is removed from its position on the lever. Before fitting the new knob, retrieve a plastic piece to place back on the gear lever (if it came off with the knob when removed). To do this, cut off the lower end piece of the knob with a utility knife (as shown in the images). Extract the piece and mount it on the lever, ensuring the position of the teeth and, if necessary, securing it with a rubber mallet. Finally, fit the new knob along with the leather cover.
