How to Replace the Timing Belt on a VW Golf 5

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 5, Golf 5, Golf V - Years 2003-2008

To replace the timing belt on a 2004 Golf 5, you will need the following tools: 12 mm socket, 16 mm spanner, and ratchet. First, open the bonnet, secure the wheels, and lift the car with a jack. Now, using the 12 mm socket, remove the fastening elements of the oil sump, and with the 16 mm spanner, loosen the tensioner pulley of the belt and remove it. Position the pulley back to its base position and pull slightly to fit the new belt. Return the pulley to its base position, start the car to check the correct operation of the belt. Reinstall the oil sump cover, remove the jack, and close the bonnet.
