Volkswagen Golf - Video tutorial
Model: Volkswagen Golf
Golf V, MK 5, Golf 5
- Years 2003-2008 To replace the timing belts of a 2004 Golf 5, the tools to use are: a 12mm socket wrench, a 16mm combination wrench, and a ratchet wrench. The first steps to take are to open the hood, secure the wheels, and lift the car with a jack. Now, using the 12mm socket wrench, we can unscrew the fastening elements of the oil cap, and using the 16mm combination wrench, we can pull the belt tensioner pulley and remove the belt. Position the pulley at its base position and pull it slightly so that we can place the new belt. Return the pulley to its base position, start the car to verify the correct functioning of the belt. Reinstall the oil cap cover, remove the jack, and close the hood.
