On the 90 hp Ford 1.6 tdci engine, a fairly recurring problem has been reported which occurs after 100,000 km, when the chain tensioner, relating to the chain that connects the two camshafts, starts to wear causing a metallic noise like a slight head banging. For this reason it is recommended to replace not only the timing belt, but also the chain and chain tensioner.
