Changing the Brake Fluid on BMW R1200 GS

Remove the black side panel by unscrewing the T25 Torx screws and connect the socket at this accessible point. Place rags around the front brake cable and unscrew the 8 mm bolt, then unscrew the 1/4" screw.

Repeat the process on the other side. On the rear wheel, there is an 11 mm bolt that acts as a cap and a 7/16" screw.

Open the reservoir containing the brake fluid to allow air circulation, then bleed the brakes using a flexible tube. Collect the fluid in a container and then add the same amount of oil that has leaked out.
