Removing the Overhead Handle

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003

The overhead handle supports passengers and helps them exit the cabin by grabbing and pulling themselves up. To remove this handle, rotate it downward to detach it from the headliner and open the caps that cover the mounting screws. Next, unscrew the screws and complete the removal by pulling the handle from its seat, being careful not to damage the edges of the headliner. Then, reverse the process to reinstall it, aligning the handle's reinforcement ribs with the holes in the headliner before tightening the mounting screws and closing the caps.
