How to Change the Spark Plugs on a Citroen C3 MK1

Let's see how to change the spark plugs on a Citroen C3 MK1: open the bonnet and disconnect the PCV valve, then disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the intake manifold; remove the ventilation hoses and disconnect the air intake hose. Also disconnect the throttle valve connectors and the ignition coil connector.

Disconnect the intake manifold connector. Cover the PCV valve hole with a cloth to prevent dirt from falling into the pipe.

Unscrew the coil bracket with a 10mm socket; lever to extract the coil from the spark plug well, cleaning any dirt and debris with a vacuum cleaner fitted with a thin nozzle. Now you can unscrew and extract the spark plugs.

For reassembly, apply a thin layer of anti-seize lubricant on the threads of the new spark plugs (which you may find on Amazon with code B01BLN7F3O at a price of £25.86 + £1 delivery), then insert them by hand into their seats and screw them in to 28 Nm. Insert the coil into the well, tighten the coil fixing to 9 Nm, reconnect the connector, reconnect the PCV valve, the ventilation hose, the throttle valve connectors, refit the ventilation hoses, reconnect the air intake hose, and plug in the coil connector.

Run the engine for a few minutes to check functionality.
