In this video, we see how to repair the cap of a Grande Punto. You will need another cap, which you can get at a low price from a scrapyard, and it will allow you to recover some parts: remove the rubber cable holder, then separate the two parts by levering them apart, securing 2 small screwdrivers on two nearby joints, and using a third screwdriver to lever the other 4 tabs. At this point, we need to remove the metal spring from its housing; as a result, we need to remove the pin. Repeat the process on the "donor" cap. Clean the pin well with WD-40. Now, hold down the plastic teeth with its internal spring, and at the same time, insert the pin, ensuring that it is securely fitted in its housing, and there is no risk of the teeth on the other side being shot off. Reassemble the two parts of the cap. Position the cap and reattach the safety latch.
