In this video from Teknikens Värld (a Swedish car magazine known for its strict impartiality, which gained worldwide fame in 1997 with the moose test of the Mercedes A-Class), the Hyundai i30 demonstrated a stability described as 'fair', but with some roll (lateral oscillation) and a tendency to understeer in extreme conditions. It meets safety standards, but was not among the best in its category at the time (for example, the Volkswagen Golf and Mazda3 performed better). Certainly, the tyres fitted to the test vehicle played a significant role in the result; higher quality tyres definitely improve stability. It should also be noted that this version of the Hyundai i30 had a suspension setup more oriented towards comfort than stability.
