How to Replace the Gear Knob on a Lancia Ypsilon

To replace the gear knob on a Lancia Ypsilon, first engage the handbrake and put the lever in neutral. If the knob is screwed on, turn it counter-clockwise until it is completely unscrewed; if it is a push fit, grasp it with both hands and pull upwards to unclip it from the shaft. Remove any additional components, such as the ring or leather gaiter, by unclipping the clips at the base. Position the new knob, aligning any guides or threads correctly, and screw it on or press until fully engaged. Reposition the gaiter and ensure the knob is stable, checking that the gear change is smooth in all gears and that there is no excessive play.
