In this video, we are taught how to recognize a damaged ball joint on a Mercedes Class B W245 version: first, we see a new ball joint for comparison, and then the damaged one, with the typical orange color caused by the leaking grease, which oxidizes upon contact with the air; the boot appears empty and flattened. However, ball joints can have a good external appearance, despite developing play that causes annoying noises and bouncing on bumps. We can perform a test by grabbing the wheel at 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock, and shaking it slightly: we will hear a sharp metallic noise coming from the ball joint: "clonk", which indicates the need to replace the part. The YouTuber shows us the condition of the ball joint once removed.
