How do you remove the central tunnel of the Mercedes E-Class?

In order to remove the central tunnel of the Mercedes E-Class, you need to use a lever to remove the gear shift cover: once this is removed, you can locate the two screws underneath that need to be unscrewed. After removing the screws, you can proceed to unscrew the two screws in the back of the tunnel: once these are also unscrewed, you can completely detach the panel and install the new one. This can now be fixed to ensure that everything works correctly.
