Replacing the Serpentine Belt Tensioner

Model: Mercedes Sl R230 - Years 2001-2011

After raising the hood, remove the bolt in the center of the pulley that tensions the belt. This allows you to remove the pulley and consequently the belt. Once you have moved this piece, also remove the metal spacer and unscrew the control lever. Now, using a wrench, unscrew the central shaft, which should be turned clockwise, to save all the still good parts. Next, take the new belt tensioner and begin reassembling everything by following the steps in reverse, ensuring that you respect the orientation of all the various pieces.
