Part: Instrument cluster

Video tutorial

The issue described in the video is quite common in the Opel Corsa B: the speedometer does not work and stays at zero, and the reverse light does not illuminate when reverse is engaged. The cause is commonly a blown fuse: in this model, the electrical circuit is designed so that the same fuse powers components that are not connected, such as the speedometer control unit and the reverse lights, so when this fuse blows, both stop working.

This fuse is located in the cabin fuse box and is the third from the left in the bottom row. The fuse rating is 15 Amperes. Check in the light if the metal filament inside is broken; sometimes it is hard to see, so if you have a tester, check for continuity.

Replace the fuse with one of the same amperage and check. If the problem persists or if the fuse blows immediately, the cause could be a short circuit, or the speed sensor may be faulty, but a fault in the instrument cluster itself cannot be ruled out.

Location of the Jack and Spare Wheel of the Toyota Yaris

In the unfortunate event that one of the wheels of the Toyota Yaris is punctured, it is useful to know the location of the lifting jack, the spare wheel, the tool to operate the jack, and to unscrew the wheel bolts. The jack is located under the driver's seat, secured to a bracket and protected by a plastic cover, which you can remove by acting on the fixing clips. The spare wheel is located under the floor panel of the boot, secured to the floor by a threaded plastic flange, alongside which you will find the tool, consisting of a bent bar, which is used to operate the jack on one side and to remove the wheel on the other.
