Replacement of External Wing Mirror Glass

Model: Vauxhall Astra Astra G - Years 1998-2006

Replacing just the glass of the external wing mirror is very simple. The glass is simply clipped onto the internal support; lever the back of the glass to detach it and pull it away from the support enough to disconnect the demisting system wires. Bring the new glass close, connect the demisting system wires, and press on the glass until it clicks into place on the support. A quicker and more economical method could be to have a piece of glass shaped by a glazier and glue it onto the broken one with silicone or double-sided tape.

Let's see in this guide how to proceed: insert a medium-length screwdriver into the rear slots on the steering wheel and turn until you release the clips that hold the airbag. Once the airbag is disconnected, disconnect the power connectors and remove it from the steering wheel. For reinstalling the airbag: connect the power connector, then press it onto the steering wheel until the locking clips snap into place inside the steering wheel.
