As shown in this tutorial, changing the engine oil in a Suzuki GS 500 is an extremely simple and quick task. First, wait for the engine to cool down sufficiently, then position a container underneath it, locate the drain plug, and loosen it using a 17 mm socket spanner.

Once the oil has drained from the system, open the filter housing by unscrewing the 3 securing bolts, insert the replacement, and reassemble everything. At this point, simply pour in the new oil through the designated top hole.
