Although the timing belt is one of the most durable components of the car, it still needs to be replaced after a certain number of miles. It is especially important to do this promptly to avoid causing further serious damage to the engine and beyond. To determine if it is time to change it, simply manually rotate the belt within its "circuit" and observe if it tends to move from its initial position and/or if it shows signs of tension loss during this movement. If one (or both) of these phenomena is clearly visible, it is time to replace it with a new one.
