To dismantle the engine of the Yamaha YZ 450F, loosen the bolts securing it to its housing. Once the support bolts are loosened, disconnect all hoses and connectors attached to the engine block. At this point, remove the spark plug from the top of the cylinder and then the cylinder itself. The piston inside can be freed from the connecting rod, which can then be detached from the crankshaft. You can now replace any other components as needed, reassembling and reinstalling the engine.
