Answer

The possible weaknesses of the 1.9 TDI engine fitted to your Golf 5 are only 2. The first is the throttle valve with plastic gears that wear out quickly. The second is the o-ring between the EGR valve and the intake manifold - a loss of tightness occurs which leads to loss of power and stops the engine.
