A problem that afflicts around 20% of Jaguar XKs is the slowness with which the soft top opens and closes: furthermore, this problem can lead to the more serious problem commonly known as a "green shower". This causes oil to leak from inside the pistons that regulate the movement of the hood: if the oil becomes too thick or one of the pistons breaks, the fluid could end up inside the passenger compartment. It is therefore advisable to replace the pistons before they become excessively worn.
