Repairing the Mechanism for Adjusting the Front Seat Backrest

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003

First, locate the button that adjusts the angle of the driver's seat backrest. The button is located on the lower left side, next to the seat. Position the backrest as vertically as possible using the mechanism discussed. Remove the seat from its housing in the car and place it outside. Locate the two electric motors under the seat that allow for backrest adjustment. Identify the bolts to unscrew in order to remove them. One of the motors is not functioning properly, which is causing the backrest adjustment mechanism to fail. This operation is performed on a BMW 5 Series.
