The metallic noise on a Dacia Sandero 1.0 TCe is caused by play in the wastegate valve rod of the turbo. The rod vibrates at low revs, producing an annoying rattle, but in most cases, it does not compromise engine reliability.

There are three possible solutions. The first is to apply a tension spring to the rod (as shown in the video): an economical and reversible solution available on iluogarage.it, which dampens vibrations without blocking the valve.

The second is a software update at the garage: this often does not resolve or only temporarily reduces the noise. The third is to replace the turbo: the only definitive solution, but it is costly and not always covered under warranty (Dacia tends not to replace it for this reason).

In rare cases, the rod may break, necessitating turbo replacement. Practical advice: if the noise is bothersome, the spring is the simplest and most immediate solution; if the car is under warranty, press the garage for an update or, if the noise is loud, for turbo replacement.
