This guide shows how to check the engine oil level on the Ducati 996. First, check the oil level before fully using the engine; otherwise, if the engine is warm, wait ten minutes before checking. There are two methods for checking, depending on whether you have a rear stand. If you have one, simply place the bike upright and check the level through the sight glass. If you do not have this tool, you can still check the level by holding the bike by the handlebars and a fixed part of the bike, such as a footpeg, to level it. Then, bend down and check the oil level. When returning the bike to a resting position, be careful with the stand to avoid tipping the bike over.
