On the Harley Davidson Sportster XL 1200S, there are four spark plugs, one for each cylinder, with two larger coils compared to the standard Sportster. Disconnect the coil leads and use a 5/8 socket to unscrew the spark plugs. If they are tending towards black, it means your fuel mixture is a bit too rich, so adjust it. Replace one spark plug at a time (we recommend RA8HC spark plugs). Check with a feeler gauge that the gap between the electrode and the mass is about 1 mm (the tolerance is 0.05 mm). If the gap is not correct, increase it with any cutting tool. Screw in the new spark plugs.
