Replacing the differential oil will ensure that the relative gears always work well lubricated, preserving their wear. The differential is easily accessible and you can see the two drive shafts come out laterally and the relative oil filler and drain plugs; then place a tray for collecting the oil under the differential, first unscrew the front filler cap (if oil leaks it means that it is still level) and then the drainage one below; once the oil has been drained, clean the cap from residues of metal emery and screw it in; then fill the differential with clean oil until it comes out of the cap and screw the latter.

Let's see in this guide the main steps to be able to change the transmission oil of the second series Fiat Ducato, with 2.8 JTD engine. First of all we lift the car and go to locate the gear oil vent bolt, which we find near the transmission; we use a hex wrench to unscrew it, letting it drain the old oil in a container for about ten minutes. At this point we open the bonnet and remove the air intake sleeve, so as to be able to access the gearbox oil filling hole; then we fill up to the maximum level!
