Changing the timing belt is a delicate job and should be done with some experience. Here are the steps to replace the timing belt on a Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0 16v CRDI. Lift the front of the vehicle. Remove the lower plastic engine cover and the front right wheel with the wheel arch liner. Remove the bolt and the crankshaft pulley. Remove the timing belt cover, engine mount, and bracket. It is also important to determine the "top dead centre"; sometimes, marking the pulleys with a marker is sufficient. Decide if you want to replace the water pump and any bearings or if you only need the timing belt kit. Reassemble everything in reverse order.
