Video tutorial

The video shows the replacement of the front engine mount on the Smart Fortwo 451. The procedure is relatively simple: lift the rear of the vehicle and secure it on axle stands. The mount is located at the front of the engine compartment (which is at the rear on the Smart) and is easily identifiable: it connects the engine to the chassis to limit forward and backward movement.

Remove the 18 mm bolt securing the engine mount with a socket wrench, then the mount from the chassis; the two bolts are of different lengths. You can find the mount on eBay with the code 227162153155 for £37.01 plus £13.94 shipping; install it by initially tightening the bolts by hand and using a torque wrench for the final tightening to 115 Nm.
