Replacing the timing belt on a car is a rather complex operation. Below are the main steps to follow: First, lift the vehicle, remove the front right wheel and the corresponding inner arch. Loosen the tensioner of the auxiliary belt and remove it. Unscrew the oil drain plug and drain the system. From the top of the engine bay, remove the rocker cover and the right-hand engine mount, ensuring to place a jack under the engine for support. Next, remove the fixing bolts of the timing cover and, importantly, mark the references of the camshaft and crankshaft relative to the engine itself to ensure synchronisation. Then, start removing the belt by loosening the tensioner and removing the water pump pulley. At this point, it will be possible to extract the belt.
