To replace the timing chain on the Hyundai Santa Fe, remove the engine from its housing for easier access. Once the engine is out, loosen the bolts securing the side cover of the block: it must be removed to access the sprockets. By loosening the bolts that secure the tensioner, the part can be disengaged and replaced with a new spare part. After installation, tension the chain and reassemble the engine components.
